Description

When raw water containing hardness ions passes through the resin layer in the exchanger, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are replaced by the sodium ions adsorbed by the resin. The resin adsorbs the calcium and magnesium ions, while the sodium ions enter the water. Thus, the water flowing out of the exchanger is softened water with its hardness removed. The Ca2+ and Mg2+ (the main components that form scale) in the water are replaced. As the Ca2+ and Mg2+ in the resin increase, the resin's ability to remove Ca2+ and Mg2+ gradually decreases, necessitating regeneration. The regeneration process involves flushing the resin layer with salt water from the salt tank to replace the hardness ions on the resin, which are then discharged out of the tank along with the regeneration waste liquid. At this point, the resin regains its softening exchange function. Fully automatic softened water equipment uses ion exchange resins to remove scaling ions such as calcium and magnesium from water.
